On the evening of May 6, crews will restripe lanes on Rainier Avenue S to direct traffic to the west side of the roadway between S 7th St and S 3rd St (weather permitting). This work will complete the lane shift that provides space for construction activities on the east side of Rainier Avenue S. Drivers should expect delays and increased congestion while traffic patterns adjust, and should exercise caution when entering or exiting driveways along the corridor.
Expect northbound lane closures weekdays between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm, until the remainder of the traffic shift to the west side of Rainier Avenue S is complete in early May. Please pay close attention while driving and stay safe around construction.

Striping is expected to take place on Tuesday evening, April 16, with new lane alignments in place for the morning commute on Wednesday. Drivers should expect delays and increased congestion while traffic patterns adjust, and should exercise caution when entering or exiting driveways along the corridor.

The City of Renton is improving Rainier Avenue S from S Grady Way to S 2nd Street, resulting in a safer and more attractive corridor for vehicles and pedestrians. When completed, Rainier Avenue S will have wider sidewalks, landscaped planter strips and medians, upgraded street lighting and improved transit mobility. Several underground utilities will also be relocated, including gas, electricity and telecommunications.
